Topic: Metin2 Japan Goes Dark, Is It All Over?

You may remember that near the end of 2010, Japanese publisher Sankando launched Metin2 JP. Metin2 Japan had previously existed, published by rival Japanese publisher Netmarble, but was shut down due to falling player counts. Sankando came in and started what seemed to be a promising replacement, with active updates.

Recently these updates had slowed down, though this is somewhat expected as the server had almost fully "caught up" in terms of content. However, last week we noticed that their website (www.metin2.jp) had gone offline. The Metin2 JP twitter account has also gone silent.

Sankando has been plagued with issues recently. Another game that Sankando published named M2-online (not to be confused with Metin2) suffered data problems, and the company had kept no usable backup. This left them no other choice but to cease operating M2-online.

After the closure of M2-online, Sankando is at least offering compensation (translation). If Metin2 JP has also suffered the same fate, hopefully this means that disgruntled Metin2 JP players (many of which were previously dumped without compensation by Netmarble) could expect compensation this time around.

Metin2.JP is off since more then 3 weeks. This kinda shows that Webzen is failing under all point of views. We just need to look at the recent updates that are only for item mallers to realise that this developer has nothing left to offer to this game

Not necessary, there can be only 100 players that are using mall, and if owner have enough incomes, he would not close server because of low player count.
I think that players from other servers will start coming to SG in near future,  when they realise what is z8 & gameforge...

And what you have against SG, pwned there so you left or what?

i didnt play sg so how could i get pwned lol

No they are not, they dont care about cheaters and your items...

I guess they will come to Z8games (metin2.us) after they see how you guys  are flaming on every single thread trying to defend your server..
You guys are going in defensive mood on every single thread.. Someone with good server do not need to defend it.

And it should be dead, because ymir gived only few updates for this game, for 7 years it is almost the same boring game. We can only dream about metin3...
But I cant find similar game to metin2, so I stick to it -.-

The thing with metin2 is, some time ago i got bored of it, thought of trying some other MMORPGs since metin2 was my first MMORPG EVER. I downloaded like 30-35 different MMORPGs, and you see what happened. Here i am at metin2 again.
Just nothing gives the feeling M2 does...

some of Japanese already started in metin.US now.they won't go to SG, due to Japanese's culture only stick with Own races.
