Metin2 US had some problems with downtime recently, where the authentication servers (which handle logins) were constantly going up and down. This was later fixed, though now a different issue has raised its ugly head.

Many players are reporting that they are randomly finding themselves banned. This doesn't seem to be occurring on New World, the 2nd Metin2 US server, only Free Kingdom.

Some players are theorizing that this is due to talking to the Lin NPC (known as the biologist to players of other servers). Others report that they found themselves banned shortly after using Tyrax (the NPC outside of Watery Cavern / Grotto, in the valley) to upgrade spirit stones.

Then there are more players saying that they have been banned simply after changing channels a couple of times. And then there are players who are saying that they cannot even see some NPCs, including Lin. Threads about these issues on the Z8Games forums can be found here and here.


We tried speaking to Lin, upgrading a spirit stone at Tyrax and changing CH many times on a Metin2 US account, but as of this writing the account is still able to login. As you can see, a myriad of issues, making it a little unclear exactly what is the cause. Whatever it is, the Z8Games staff should definitely investigate.

If any account owners finds themselves banned randomly it would be a good idea to note down the time that the ban occurred, and then explain the situation to Metin2 US Support. If we get any concrete information or a reply from Z8Games (once in a blue moon), we'll update here.

Update: Here is an example of the ban notice that some players are getting:

This account is blocked due to hacking or some malicious software being used in game.  Please contact support for more information and assistance. Thank you.

i don't think so,they banned my shop char too,my shop only lvl13 or 16,never went to tyrax or lin.
most got ban one char of each player.maybe IP problem,not sure tho,still waiting Ticket reply.

got banned like 3h ago.. While lagging hard in banker, dced and then ban. A mod told me they try to fix it right now but i dont believe a word xD

All ppl who were banned live in ro,lebanon, greece and rest '3rd world connection countrys' rofl I log with adsm = 50kb/sec downloads, imagine how metin lags and cz of the lag everyone gets ban.

Example: go hit a metin with auto, have a friend next you, close your (wifi net prefering) for 3-4 secs while your char is in auto still hits, and re-connect, your connection wont be back immediately @ metin, but when it is you will see yourself making 5x damages to metin.

Your friend will say : wow dude, u wasnt moving for 5secs and then u hitted using speedhack

The best part of being banned is the screen that tells you to read the Terms of Service - and nowhere in the document does it state that you can't change channels, can't have more than one account on a single IP, can't login with more than one account at a time, or can't try to login after a DC or other problem. They'd best learn to update their rules before they start banning people for actions that aren't violating their ToS. That's opening them up for a possible lawsuit, especially from people that are losing package and other time limited Item mall items.

It isn't opening them up for a lawsuit. The TOS you agreed to in order to create your account specifically allows them to remove/disable whatever for any reason they want.

"They" aren't banning you, it is their automated thing that is broken, according to them at least.
