You may remember from our last update about the Devil's Catacomb that Gameforge had posted up a mysterious countdown ending on October 20th, titled simply "Project X". Amid all the news about the catacomb we guessed this might have something to do with the catacomb update, but it now turns out the it pertains to a different update - pets!
Pets are not a complete surprise, as the YMIR Development Plan that was leaked via Metin2 SG back in April makes a few mentions of pets. To jog your memory, here is the relevant slide:
The method of acquiring the pets may seem a little strange, but here goes: those interested must buy a copy of Metin2 from Amazon. Along with their own physical copy of Metin2, players will also receive a coupon which will allow them to own a pet in the game. Unlike recent disappointments with "temporary updates", the pets are permanent.
The game as ordered from Amazon costs €10.99, though the coupon inside is redeemable for €25 in the item shop. The coupon also allows entry into Gameforge's older
Metin2 DE servers, Carthage and Mosha. These older servers have long since been closed to new registrations, and as such are bot-free environments.
The box cover refers to a "Fire Phoenix"; we're not sure if there will be additional pets. Unfortunately, we can't show you any screenshots of what the pet(s) may look like ingame either, though there is a pre-rendered image available:
There are still 30 days until the project goes live, though you should expect to see more images and information as October 20th draws nearer.

Mhm... I don't troll but, I expected something else.
Why can't YMIR make pets "catch-able" ? So we could get our own pet by killing mobs. (Like in Battle o the Immortals?)

Couldn't they just put the pet into the mall and skip the dvd thing? Surely it costs gameforge a lot to have all those discs pressed and printed/cased etc.
well, maybe it's silly to buy the DVD for 11e, but you will get a coupon that worth more than you paid + the pet xD
should not say "free-bots" if they can bann the bots from other server, why don't do it in ALL?
The bots are property of GameForge... All move for money. It isn't a game, it's a casino.
Anghios - the older Metin2.de servers have registration closed. Players can not register a new account on those servers, but it also means that new accounts for bots cannot be made either. Because of this the servers are free from bots.
they can ban the bots in all servers that's right
the difference is in those specific servers the bot that is banned can not come back "registration is closed" that's why it's a Bot-free server
Why you can buy golds from gold seller sites on those servers then? They made so much golds that they can still sell for 10 years or what? lol

I agree with most, the method isn't great. I just hope they change it to a more easier method after a while. The pets look awesome.

I think this is gonna be the same
They've sayed that some pets will be avialable from item shop, other ones from quests. And I don't think that pservers have already pets, because they only copy things from global servers.
